De Maesschalck et al. 2014, type species of the genus.
Gram-positive cocci, 1.1-1.2 μm, occuring in pairs or short chains. Non-motile. Non-
spore-forming.
On M2GSC agar plates, they form minute white colonies, 1.0-1.5 mm in diameter after
48h of growth at 38 ºC in an anaerobic workstation. Obligately anaerobic.
Isolated from the caecal content of a chicken.

Positive results for naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, acid production from
glucose and mannose.

Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, cystine arylamidase, aesculin hydrolysis, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8),
alpha-fucosidase, glycine arylamidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, lipase (C14), leucine arylamidase, alpha-mannosidase, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, urease, valine
arylamidase, acid production from: D-mannitol, lactose, sucrose, maltose, salicin, D-xylose, L-arabinose, cellobiose, melezitose,
raffinose, D-sorbitol, L-rhamnose and trehalose.

Variable results for acid phosphatase, arginine arylamidase, alanine arylamidase, gelatinase, histidine arylamidase and
pyroglutamic acid arylamidase.
