Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pseudomonadales, Family Pseudomonadaceae,
Genus Pseudomonas, Pseudomonas paracarnis Lick et al. 2021.
Gram-negative short rods, 0.6 x 0.8-2.0 µm, occurring mostly in pairs. Motile.
Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are beige, circular convex, smooth and 0.5-1.0mm in diameter after
incubation at 25 ºC for 24h on Standard-I agar or Caso agar plus glucose.
Fluorescence is produced on King B agar. Grows at 2-33 ºC (optimum, 25-30 ºC), at
pH 5.0-9.0 and in the presence of 0-6.0% NaCl. Grows on R2A and cetrimide agar,
produces levan on Czapek Yeast Extract agar and is non-haemolytic on Columbia
blood agar. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from minced and refrigerated dry aged beef.

D-glucose, D-fructose, D-mannose, inositol, D-mannitol, D-sorbitol, melibiose, sucrose, trehalose, D-fucose, D- and L-arabitol.
Can assimilate (API 20 NE): L-arabinose, D-glucose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, potassium gluconate, capric
acid, malic acid and trisodium citrate.
Can utilize as sole carbon source (Biolog PM1 and PM2): D- and L-arabinose, D-galactose, D-mannose, D-xylose, D-ribose,
alpha-D-glucose, L-asparagine, L-glutamine, mucic acid, L-malic acid, L-lyxose, D-galacturonic acid, 2-aminoethanol,
2-deoxy-D-ribose, D-fucose, D-glucosamine, 5-keto-D-gluconic acid, quinic acid and dihydroxyacetone.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, cystine arylamidase, alpha-fucosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase,
beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, indole production, lipase (C14),
alpha-mannosidase, nitrate reduction, PNPG, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, naphthol AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, urease, acid
