Faecalitalea cylindroides
(Rocchi 1908) De Maesschalck et al. 2014 - type species of the genus.
Synonyms: Bacterium cylindroides Rocchi 1908, Eubacterium cylindroides (Rocchi
1908) Holdeman and Moore 1970.
Gram-positive cocci, occuring in pairs or in short chains. Filamentous forms are often
seen. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Strictly anaerobic. Large amounts of lactic acid are produced as the main fermentation
product in M2GSC broth, in addition to moderate amounts of butyric acid.
Isolated from clinically normal human faeces.
Undetermined.
