Phylum Bacillota (Firmicutes), Class Erysipelotrichia, Order Erysipelothrichales, Family Erysipelotrichaceae, Genus Faecalibaculum,
Faecalibaculum rodentium Chang et al. 2016, type species of the genus.
Gram-positive, short rods, 0.9-1.2 x 1.5-2 µm in length. Non-spore-forming.
Non-motile.
Colonies are cream colored and 1.5 mm in diameter. Growth occurs at 25 and 40 ºC
but not at 20 ºC or 45 ºC; optimum growth temperature is 37 ºC. Grows on TSB agar +
horse blood (5 % v/v). Strictly anaerobic.
Isolated from a 9 month-old female C57BL/6 J mouse.
Undetermined.
