Gram-positive rods, 0.3-0.4 x 0.8-2.5 μm, occuring in long chains with twisted and
rope-like structures. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Growth occurs best in the absence of oxygen and is completely inhibited by 2%
oxygen. Temperature range of growth of 15-40 ºC, optimum between 20 and 30 ºC.
pH range of growth of 6-11; optimum at pH 7-10.
Isolated only from the intestinal tract of the larva of Pachnoda ephippiata.
