Phytobacter palmae Madhaiyan et al. 2020.
Gram-negative rods, 0.6-0.9 x 1.9-2.5 μm. Motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on 2xYT were smooth, beige, and circular with entire edges. Growth occurs
after 48h on NA, 2xYT agar, TSA, and R2A agar, and on MacConkey agar at 30 and 37
ºC. Temperature range for growth is 15-45 °C. Unable to grow at 4 and 50 ºC. Grows
in the presence of 1.0-9.0% NaCl (weakly at 10%) Grows within the pH range of 5-9.
Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from surface-sterilized leaf tissues of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) growing in Science Park II, Singapore. Nitrogen fixing
endophytic bacterium.
Undetermined.
