Genus Kosakonia, Kosakonia radicincitans (Kampfer et al. 2005) Brady et al. 2013.
Old synonym: Enterobacter radicincitans Kampfer et al. 2005.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative spherical or coccoid short rods, 1.0-1.6 x 0.8-1.2 μm. Motile.
Colonies on Nutrient agar are beige pigmented, 2-3 mm in diameter and mucoid.
Grows well on Tryptone-soy agar, R2A agar, Nutrient agar and MacConkey Agar at 30
and 36 ºC and on Tryptone-soy agar at 25, 28, 30, and 36 ºC. Moderate growth at 20
ºC and no growth at 4, 10, 15, 45 ºC or above. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from the phyllosphere of winter wheat.
Undetermined. Nitrogen-fixing bacterium.
