Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Enterobacteriales, Family Enterobacteriaceae,
Genus Enterobacter, Enterobacter roggenkampii Sutton et al. 2018.
Gram-negative rods, 0.5-0.6 x 1.2-1.6 µm, occurring singly or in pairs . Motile by
peritrichous flagella. Non‐spore-forming.
Colonies on Nutrient Agar are creamy white, mucoid, translucent, raised, with
entire margins, and 5‒9 mm in diameter after 48 h of incubation at 37 ºC. Growth
occurs at 10‒45 ºC; optimal growth temperature is 37 ºC. Growth occurs between pH
4.0-10.5 (optimally at pH is 6.0-7.0). Growth occurs in the presence of 0-7.5% (w/v)
NaCl (optimally with 0% NaCl). Facultatively anaerobic. Grows well on MacConkey
agar. No growth on bile salt medium.
Isolated from human faeces in Germany.
Undetermined.
