Gram-negative rods, 0.5-0.8 x 1.1-1.7 µm. Motile by peritrichous flagella.
Colonies are pale cream on nutrient agar, round, convex and smooth with entire
margins. Optimum temperature, 27-30 ºC; maximum temperature for growth is 40 ºC.
Facultatively anaerobic.
Subsp. roseae was isolated from Quercus cerris in Norfolk, United Kingdom.
Subsp. americana was  isolated from Quercus kelloggii in California, United States of America.
Assoiated with Acute Oak Decline.

Can assimilate (Biolog GN2)  dextrin, Tween 80, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, L-arabinose, D-fructose, D-galactose, alpha-D-glucose,
inositol, D-mannitol, D-mannose, alpha-methyl-D-glucoside, D-psicose, D-sorbitol,  sucrose, pyruvic acid methyl ester, acetic acid,
citric acid, D-galacturonic acid, D-gluconic acid, D-saccharic acid, succinic acid, bromosuccinic acid, L-aspargine, L-aspartic acid, L-
glutamic acid, D-serine, L-serine, thymidine, glycerol, D,L, alpha-glycerol phosphate, alpha-D-glucose-1-phosphate and
alpha-D-glucose-6-phosphate.

Negative results for gelatinase, H
2S production, indole production, lysine decarboxylase, nitrate reduction to nitrite, oxidase, tryptophan
deaminase, starch hydrolysis, urease, acid production from adonitol, amygdalin, dulcitol, gentiobiose, melibiose, methyl
alpha-D-glucopyranoside, raffinose, trehalose and turanose.
