Basonym:
Bacillus mucilaginosus Avakyan et al. 1998.
Gram-negative, rod-shaped cells. Non-motile. Produce ellipsoidal, central spores in
swollen sporangia. Produce a large capsule.
Colonies are smooth, round, convex, mucous, translucent and colourless. Growth
temperature10-45 ºC; optimum temperature 30 ºC; no growth at 50 ºC.  Grows in
media containing 1-2.0% (w/v) NaCl, but not in 2.5% (w/v) NaCl. No growth at pH 6.
Grows on nutrient agar, potato dextrose agar or Alexandrov medium. Aerobe.
Isolated from clay, rock, in Russia.
Undetermined.
