Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 0.5-0.8 x 2.0-3.5 µm. Motile. Spore-forming.
After 5 days incubation on R2A agar, colonies are circular and pale yellow. Growth
occurs at 25-42 ºC (optimum at 37 ºC), but not at 4 ºC. The pH growth range is
between pH 7.0 and 9.0. Aerobic.
Isolated from soil of a ginseng field in South Korea.

Positive results for catalase, aesculin hydrolysis, esterase (C4), esterase (C8), beta-galactosidase, beta-glucosidase, nitrate
reduction,  naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase and acid production from glucose.
Can assimilate maltose, melibiose, sucrose and D-mannitol.

Negative results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, alpha-chymotrypsin, cystine arylamidase,
alpha-fucosidase, gelatinase, alpha-galactosidase, alpha-glucosidase, leucine arylamidase, lipase (C14), alpha-mannosidase,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, indole production, oxidase, protease, starch hydrolysis, trypsin, urease or valine arylamidase.
No assimilation of: 2-ketogluconate, 3-hydroxybenzoate, DL-3-hydroxybutyrate, 4-hydroxybenzoate, 5-ketogluconate, acetate, adipate,
caprate, citrate, gluconate, itaconate, DL-lactate, malate, malonate, phenylacetate, propionate, suberate, n-valerate, arabinose,
fucose, glucose, maltose, mannose, rhamnose, ribose, inositol, mannitol, sorbitol, L-alanine, L-histidine, L-proline, L-serine,
N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, salicin and glycogen.
