Phylum Proteobacteria, Class Betaproteobacteria, Order Burkholderiales, Family Alcaligenaceae, Genus Ampullimonas,
Ampullimonas aquatilis Franca et al. 2016, type species of the genus.
Gram-negative rods, 1.0 x 1.0-2.0 μm. Motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on R2A agar medium are not pigmented. Growth occurs between 15 and 35
ºC, optimally at 30 ºC. The optimum pH for growth is about 7.0; growth occurs
between pH 5.5 and 9.0. Optimum growth occurs without added NaCl; the
maximum concentration for growth is 0.5 % (w/v) NaCl. Strictly aerobic. Yeast extract
is required for growth.
Able to fix N2 under microaerobic conditions.
Isolated from bottled mineral water in Portugal.
Undetermined.
