Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, ovoid cells, 0.8-0.9 µm in diameter, occurring in pairs or short chains.
Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Growth on blood agar is poor but good growth is obtained when supplemented with
2% Sea Salts. Colonies are alpha-haemolytic, small (0.5-0.8 mm in diameter after 24
h), circular, entire, shiny, convex and non-pigmented. Grows in 2-8% NaCl (optimum
5% NaCl), at 25 and 40 ºC (optimum at 37 ºC) and at pH 5-11 (optimum pH 7.5).
Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from marine water sample collected from Inland Sea, a hyper saline lagoon in Doha, Qatar.
Undetermined.
