Gram-positive elongated cocci, grouped in pairs, short chains or small groups.
Non-motile.
Colonies on sheep blood agar are non-pigmented, shiny, circular, smooth with entire
margins and about 1 mm in diameter after 24 hours of cultivation at 37 °C. Grow on
Todd–Hewitt agar, BHI agar and MRS (less abundant). Poor growth and small dark-
red colonies are produced on Slanetz–Bartley medium containing 0.04% sodium
azide. Growth is positive at 10 - 45 °C in BHI broth, in 6.5% NaCl medium and pH 9.6.
Isolated from the gut of a termite.
