Gram-positive ovoid cocci, grouped in pairs, short chains or small groups. Non-motile.
Colonies on sheep blood agar are non-pigmented, shiny, circular, smooth with entire
margins, 1 mm in diameter after 24 h of cultivation at 37 °C.
Growth occurs in BHI broth at 10 °C, no growth occurs at 45 °C and is weak in
the presence of 6.5% NaCl and at pH 9.6. Poor growth on Slanetz–Bartley medium
containing 0.04% sodium azide, producing small dark-red colonies.
Isolated from a drinking water filter, in Silesia.
