Description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cocci, non-motile.
Colonies are small, non-pigmented, alpha haemolytic. Grows at 10 and 45°C. No
growth in 6.5% NaCl.
The only strain was isolated from bovine mastitis.

Positive results for pyruvate utilization, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, esculin hydrolysis,
hippurate hydrolysis, beta-galactosidase, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from:
adonitol, ribose, sorbose, N-acetylglucosamine, amygdalin, cellobiose, galactose,
2-keto-gluconate, lactose, maltose, mannitol, alpha-methyl-D-glucoside, sorbitol &
trehalose.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, arginine dehydrolase, alpha-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, acid production from:
D-arabitol, inulin, melezitose, L-arabinose, L-arabitol, dulcitol, glycerol, glycogen, inositol, melibiose, D-raffinose, rhamnose, starch,
sucrose & D-tagatose.
