Gram-positive cocci, 0.5 – 0.75 µm in diameter, non-spore-forming, occurring in pairs
or short chains.
Colonies on blood agar are small and white, 0.75–1.0 mm in diameter and non-
haemolytic at 37 °C. Colonies on MS agar are small, darkblue & crinkled.
Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from the bats' oral cavity.

Positive for Voges–Proskauer test, alanine phenylalanine proline arylamidase, beta-
glucosidase, alpha-glucosidase, alpha-galactosidase, acid phosphatase, leucine
arylamidase, valine arylamidase, cystine arylamidase, naphthol-AS-BI-
phosphohydrolase, esculin hydrolysis, acid production from: D-glucose, D-galactose,
D-fructose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, aesculin, salicin, cellobiose, maltose, lactose, sucrose, trehalose & D-
tagatose.
Negative for catalase, hippurate hydrolysis, arginine dihydrolase, beta-glucuronidase, alkaline phosphatase, beta-galactosidase, N-
acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, acid production from: melibiose, raffinose & sorbitol.
