Gram-positive cocci, 0.8–1.4 μm, non-motile, non-sporing.
S-type colonies, rarely pigmented. Diameter is under 3 mm on P agar or 8–12 mm on
Tryptic Soy  Agar at 37 ºC. Facultatively anaerobic,  37 ºC. Grow on 10% NaCl agar.
Isolated from goat milk & cheese. Resistant to novobiocin, bacitracin and lysozyme. Lysostaphin-sensitive.
Unknown. No enterotoxins produced.

mannose, sucrose, fructose, trehalose & turanose.

Negative results for ornithine decarboxylase, staphylocoagulase, alkaline
phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, urease, coagulase-rabbit plasma, clumping
factor, deoxyribonuclease agar, heat-stable nuclease, acid production from lactose,
xylitol, raffinose, cellobiose, fucose, galactose, melezitose & salicin.
