Gram negative, non-spore-forming, motile rods.
S-type colonies, pyoverdin producer (fluorescent pigment). Weak haemolysis on
blood agar. Produce a yellow pigment on tryptic soy agar. Strictly aerobic, optimal
temperature 30 ºC. No growth at 41 ºC. Can grow at 4 - 37 ºC.
Grow on Tryptic soy agar, Mac Conkey agar, King's B medium. Growth occurs in the
presence of 6.5% NaCl. Organic growth factors not required.
Isolated from monkeys - Callithrix geoffroyi (clinical specimens).
Possible cause of pneumonia in monkeys

alpha-glucosidase, beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-bglucosamidase, alpha-mannosidase and alpha-fucosidase, assimilation of:
