Gram-negative rods, motile by a single polar flagellum.
S-type, fluorescent colonies. Strictly aerobic, growth temperature 4 - 35 ºC (optimum
30 ºC). No growth at 41 ºC. Media: Nutritive agar, Trypticase Soy Agar, King’s B
medium. Can tolerate low salt concentrations up to 0.8%; higher concentrations like 5
and 7% inhibit growth.
Isolated from mineral waters.

aconitate, transaconitate, tricarballylate, citrate, D-glucuronate, D-galacturonate, N-
acetyl D-glucosamine, 2-keto-D-gluconate, D-gluconate, phenylacetate,
protocatechuate, p-hydroxybenzoate, quinate, betaine, benzoate, putrescine, DL-alpha-amino-n-butyrate, histamine, DL-lactate, caprate,
caprylate, succinate, fumarate, glutarate, DL-glycerate, ethanolamine, D-glucosamine, DL-beta-hydroxybutyrate, L-aspartate,
L-glutamate, Lproline, D-alanine, L-alanine, L-serine, malonate, propionate, L-tyrosine.

Indole production, gelatin & starch liquefaction are negative. The following compounds are not utilized: D-melibiose, L-sorbose,
sucrose, D-raffinose, maltotriose, maltose, alpha-lactose, lactulose, 1-O-methyl P-galactopyranoside, 1 -O-methyl alpha-
