GENERAL FIXES: identification engine improvement
1. Identification formula in "Normal mode" was changed, id% beeing now 3 to 7% higher. "Forced mode" formula was not
modified. Results before June 1st may have minor variations.
2. Taxa below 75% probability are no more listed, returning now  "Taxon not found" message. Change was made in order
to avoid confusions when user is trying to identify a taxon that is not included in database.
Accuracy results corrected.
Streptococcus hansenii changed to Blautia hansenii.
S. alactolyticus and S. intestinalis
are synonyms but are still treated as individual species.
S. equinus & S. bovis are synonyms but are still treated as individual species.

According to Genersch et al. 2006, P. larvae subsp. pulvifaciens and P. larvae subsp. larvae are reclassified as a single
Paenibacillus larvae. ABIS database has been updated with taxonomic and biochemical changes and P. larvae
subsp pulvifaciens
was removed from database.
Paenibacillus macquariensis - contains two subspecies: P. macquariensis subsp. defensor and P. macquariensis subsp.
Important biochemical changes have been applied.

We are proud to announce new ABIS services:
The most important is the “Salmonella serovars identification”. Based on updated Kauffman-White scheme, a 2570
Salmonella serovars database is now available.  It can be accessed from the “Log in” page.
Second service: we have added a "Software limitations" page where all identifiable taxons are listed and biochemical tests
are evaluated. The service evaluates the biochemical tests, providing information about discrimination power, variability
and reliability. Reviewing these performance indicators may be useful  for selecting the best tests or minimal
requirements for identification. It can be accessed from the biochemical identification main page.
Third: the molecular identification has now the A+T / G+C ratio calculation option.
Others: the 16S rRNA gene identification engine has been optimized for the increasing of computing speed.

Android updates:
"Bacterial identification" (ABIS online) application runs in landscape mode only.
"Results" page graphics were optimized for mobile browsers.
The last  app version in Google Play is now 12.3 and is optimized for android version 5.

General changes:
The minimal number of required test for identification was raised from seven to eight.
The default identification mode is now set to "Auto". This mode will let the computer decide which mode to use, "Normal"
or "Forced". These modes can still be manually set if the user  consider to be necesary.

26th Edition (2016) and EUCAST v 6.0 (2016) standards.

By adding another 6 coryneforms, the Corynebacterium database now exceeds 100 species.

The "Limits" menu was reorganized in "Analytics" menu and upgraded by a new function: "Similarity" that calculates the
closeness between a specified taxon and its neighbors in the same taxonomic group (family or genus) based on their
morphological and biochemical properties.

The "Target" function: a bug that was preventing the dropbox to list the taxa in ascending order, was removed.

Optimization of the "Target" mode, a function that allows the monitoring of a specific taxon during the identification process:
after selecting the targeted taxon, the user is returned to "Input" page where test values
(positive/negative/variable/unavailable) for the targeted taxon are listed on the left side.
Because there are taxons incompletely described in the literature, the identification databases may contain gaps. This lack
of information may alter the identification results. To achieve the best identification, the input of the "unavailable" tests is
blocked, so the user can only enter tests corresponding to a solid, well defined information in the database.

Utility function. The Input tests page will show on left side the global utility of the tests regarding the selected database,
ranking *** high ** medium and * low. This will help the user to select the best performing tests and avoid consuming the
lab resources with weak tests. See Analytics page for details about calculating the power of the tests.

New species added:
Dermabacter hominis - isolated from human blood cultures, abscesses, wounds, skin lesions, eyes.
Dermabacter vaginalis - isolated from human vaginal fluid.
Uruburuella suis - isolated from lesions of pneumonia and pericarditis in pigs.
Uruburuella testudinis - isolated from the pharynx, lung, liver, spleen, kidney and eye of tortoises of the genus Testudo.

Other changes
- Melibiose fermentation test was added to Staphylococcus database.
- Special characters used in some bacteria names from Pasteurella and Campylobacter databases were blocking the
taxon to be selected in target mode. They were removed.
- A bug that was limiting the number of discriminatory tests sugested in "Details" page, was corrected.
- Minor biochemical adjustments to Gemella morbillorum, Streptococcus intermedius and Staphylococcus saccharolyticus.
- The name of the taxon "Providentia stuartii" has been replaced with "Providencia stuartii".

-"Matching" indicator has been renamed "Similarity" - which shows the closeness between input tests and biochemical
patterns in database.
-"Accuracy" indicator has been replaced by "Matrix integrity" - which reflects the gaps in database.
-"Probability", a probabilistic indicator based on Bayes' theorem (Lapage et al. 1973) has been introduced.
Pseudomonas identification scheme has been extended by 19 substrate utilization tests: acetate, adipate, L-alanine,
arabitol, caprate, erythritol, gluconate, 5-ketogluconate, glycerol, L-histidine, lactate, L-leucine, malate, malonate , maltose,
N-acetylglucosamine, phenylacetate, propionate and L-serine.
